Hi, I'm Andrei from Romania. I'm the outgoing type and I make friends very easy. I like going out with my friends, having fun or whatever in a pub or go to the disco. My hobby is listening to music all day long. I like all kinds of music depending of my mood. I like Rock (Nickelback, Crossfade, Kid Rock), Electro(I like dancing from time to time on it), Hip-Hop(If I listen to it on a loud sistem with a subwoofer). My father knows to play the guitar but I didn't learn to play it. My family includes my mom , dad and my 7 years old sister. My father visited Italy many times especially Venetia and he was glad of this opportunity for me to go becouse he liked there and I'm sure I'll like it too. I can't wait to meet you all and go have fun together. If you want to talk to me you can find me on one of my yahoo messenger IDs. I gave to my teacher this ID to send you: rsc_s7yl3 ,

CARNIVAL
The Carnival Season is a holiday period during the two weeks before the traditional Christian fasting of Lent. The name comes from the Italian 'carnevale', derived from the Latin carnem (meat) and vale (farewell), hence "farewell to meat" or "farewell to the flesh", letting go of the bodily self. But the origin of Carnevale is older than Christianity, and dates back to Roman time Saturnalia, Saturn's festival, a sort of spring festival characterized by wanton behavior. This spirit of celebration has been transmitted to the Carnival.
CARNIVAL IN VERONA
Carnival in Verona dates back to 1531 and is one of the oldest in Italy. That year, due to a food shortage grain prices rose, poor people, especially in the old St Zeno's area, one of the biggest and more crowded in town, were facing starvation. Tommaso Da Vico, a wealthy noble, decided to donate a huge sum for poor people to buy flour to make gnocchi, small dumplings that at that time were poor people main sustenance. In his will Da Vico ordered to distribute every year, on carnival last friday, gnocchi and wine to people of St Zeno's area. That's how Veronese Carnival had its origin. Nowadays, on carnival last friday, called Venerdi' gnocolar', gnocchi's friday, a big parade ending in front of St. Zeno church rides the streets of Verona. The parade is led by Papa' de' gnocco, gnocchi's dad, a mask representing an old king holding, instead of a scepter, a huge fork topped by a big gnocchi. The man who wears the costume is publicly elected in St. Zeno square a month before carnival. Candidates try to buy people's vote offering gnocchi and wine! Verona's spectacular carnival includes a grand parade of masks and an historical Regatta on the river Adige.

HELLO! I'm Catalin

Hello, my name is Catalin, I'm 17 years old and I come from Piatra Neamt in Romania. Now I live in Verona, an Italian city. At the beginning of my stay in Italy there were some language difficulties but after some months I learned Italian well. For the first two years the problem that remained was that I felt as if I was living in two worlds maybe because I had never been far from where I was born. Nowadays, that I'm also older, I'm getting used to living everywhere with the only disadvantage that I'm not so excited about exploring places as once.
My favourite hobby is cycling in the forest and using the computer.
In the end I'd like to wish you all a happy cultural exchange!

Hello!! I’m Nicolò and I live in San Massimo
near the football stadium of Verona.
I’m 17 years old and I like going to the city centre
with my school friends. On Saturday night I like going
to pubs or going to the disco, but sometimes I want to relax
at home.

My favourite sport is football and I like going to the stadium
when I don’t have the match with my team.
Sometimes I go to see some volleyball matches at the “palazzetto” ,
a structure near the football stadium.

This is the team with which I had my debut in the promotion league.

My family is formed by me, my mother Daniela, my father Marco, my brother Davide and my dog Folly.
Me and my brother are very friendly and sometimes we go out together. We love motorbikes and he teaches me lots of things about them.

I hope I see you soon to knew you better! Bye!!

Sometimes in the summer I play football or tennis with my friends.

My favourite kinds of films are adventure films and thrillers...but sometimes I like to relax with some comic film.

Hi! l'm Claudio!

I'm a student and I live in San Michele, a small district of Verona but near the city centre. I'm 17 years old and I'm a sensible person but amusing, friendly and I'm always radiant even if I'm sad(not in this period :) ). My worst fault is to be too direct when I talk to people.

I like staying with my friends most, but I have other interests such as fencing, playing the guitar and dancing(I'm attending a school of dance with my bestfriend Gaia and now we are learning tango!).

In the first photo you can see me (stretched out) with my friends and in the second one I'm playing my acoustic guitar.

I hope that I'll enjoy this cultural exchangevery much ! See you soon!! Bye!
